Long ago, Abu Sufyan was returning from Syria with a big caravan, carrying gold coins and many valuable goods.
But there was a problem… To reach Makkah, he had to pass near Madinah, where the Muslims were waiting to take back their belongings.
When the Muslims migrated from Makkah to Madinah, they left everything behind – their homes, land, and belongings were taken and sold.
So the caravan Abu Sufyan carried had many things that originally belonged to the Muslims; they weren’t stealing, but taking back what was theirs.
Abu Sufyan feared the Muslims would intercept him, so he changed his route and sent a fast messenger to Makkah.
